ROUND 14 FYANSFORD 17-8-08
Report by Geoff McDonald The second last run for the
season of the GJ McDonald & Co Real Estate cross country was held on Sunday.
The runners in the 7km run experienced a tough undulating course but also
enjoyed the magnificent scenery whilst running on the walk path on the north
side of the Barwon River at Buckley Falls.
In the 3km event the runners and walkers also enjoyed the pleasant
surroundings of walk path between Fyansford and the Queens Park golf course
In the junior 3km event Marcus Overman achieved his first victory for the
season by finishing first in a time of 13.15 followed in second place by
Jayden Pearce.
The senior 3km event saw newcomer Mark Watson take line honours in a very
good time of 12.15 with Phil Millar second in a personal best time of 12.56.
Junior runner Jackson Hamill-Beach stepped up to the extra distance and had
a good duel over the tough 7km course with veteran Tony Overman.. It was the
strength of Tony Overman who won the fight and crossed the finish line first
in 24.39 while Jackson finished second and was first placed junior.
Sharon Pedersen-Jones won the battle of the females and won in a time of
28.53 with Karen Wood coming in second.
Congratulations to John Moore for achieving 150km and to Jackson Hamill-Beach
for 50km with the club.
Congratulations to Tim Bird for achieving a personal best time.
Well done to Holly Pigdon who in her first season of cross country running
has progressed from the short races to this tough 7km run.
Next week’s run is the final run for the season and it will be held at John
Landy Field commencing at 1.15pm. Participants will have a choice of
competing over 3km and 5km. Following the run there will be afternoon tea
followed by presentation of awards to the end of season winners. Please
bring a plate. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The GJ McDonald & Co Real Estate Twilight Trot will commence on Monday 27
October commencing at 6.15pm. for seniors, junior runners, joggers and
walkers. The event starts from the BBQ Pavilion at Eastern Park. Everyone is
